" Women, we’re nurturers, that’s what’s expected of us. We have our children, our husbands, if we're lucky enough, and our partners, whoever. But we have to find personal fulfillment. We have to follow our dreams. We have to say, ‘I can do that, and I should be allowed to do that.'"
Such an emotional and well said acceptance speech by Glenn Close, the Golden Globe Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for her performances in 'The Wife'. Congratulations.
I have always love Glenn Close acting. And yes, I mean acting because back in my younger days I don't find Close being attractive. But her acting definitely attracted me, such as her roles in movies like Dangerous Liaisons, Fatal Attraction. Of course there are the ones where she was in the supporting role like The House of the Spirits, Mary Reilly, Air Force One and The Stepford Wives. Close always bring the character onto the screen. Rather than noticing the character is Close, it is the other way around - Close is the character. She has the charisma to transform herself into someone else.
As soon as I heard her speech, the adrenaline inside me gave me such a mix feelings of proud, positivity, joy and tears all at once. In case anyone of you missed out on it, I urge you to try and find it online. It is such an inspiring and emotional speech. It has made my night.
